Pulau Sibu also has a seagrass bed, located south of the island. It is why there is a population of dugong in its vicinity. Today dugongs face a number of potential threats in Malaysian waters. We are happy to announce that The Dugong & Seagrass Conservation Project has been established at Pulau Sibu, partnering with Marine Parks Department of Malaysia.
So... Pulau Sibu has sandy beaches... does it have turtle landings? Why yes! Yes it does! We host a turtle hatchery on its own sandy beach! Sea turtles are amazing and beautiful creatures but poaching alongside the damage that is often caused to their natural habitats, is why sea turtle conservation is so important. If we want to forge a future for these marine animals, then something must be done.
Marine biodiversity refers to the species richness and abundance in the world's oceans and seas. And since the world is covered with approximately 70% water, the amount of life in the oceans is enormous.
Marine biodiversity is important to protect because today, just as always, humans are dependent on the Earth's resources for their livelihood, health and well being. We run yearly coastal clean ups.
The mangrove forests of Southeast Asia are highly bio-diverse and provide multiple ecosystem services upon which millions of people depend. These forests help stabilize shorelines and reduce the devastating impact of natural disasters such as tsunamis and hurricanes. The national marine park wants us to be the leader for the island to conserve and educate others about mangroves!
Too often when we adventure to Asia, we are confronted with tour companies that may utilize local staff for the hands-on hard work, yet they still depend on tips to survive. The reality is that we NEED local staff, not the other way around. Hence, we want you to know that not only are you supporting the island's local community in a sustainable way, but you are also getting knowledge and experience you wouldn't find anywhere else!
Over its lifetime, a solar PV system in the tropics will produce over 50% more electricity than an identical system installed in Europe or North America. Microgrids replace diesel generators with more affordable solar energy, and is designed to optimise performance and maximise energy saving costs, also creating employment opportunities for locals.
Being in the tropics and experiencing trade winds, many small islands can have exceptional renewable resources.
As urbanization continues to take place, waste management is becoming the major environmental problem around the world. One of the most vulnerable eco-systems that
need attention in this respect is the island. Present day environmental concerns demand more: along with being safe, waste management must also follow the principles of sustainable development.
We are committed to meet the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and it is addressed to the implementation of some of the 17 global challenges we are facing including poverty (1), good health well being (3), quality education (4), clean water & sanitation (6), clean energy (7), sustainable communities (11), responsible consuming (12), climate change (13), life below water (14), life on land (15).

Freediving brings self-confidence as you learn to trust your skills and fine-tune your control. Freediving can remove you both physically and mentally to any issues that are tethered back to solid land – like that nasty boss, bratty kids, the hustle & bustle of the city. Pure serenity!
