Families are welcome at Twinbeach Sanctuary.
At our Sanctuary, nature becomes the greatest gift families share. Here, unplug from daily bustle, unwind in peaceful wildness, and reconnect through quality time that builds lasting memories.
Created with love and intention, Sensory Shores is a 3-day, 2-night nature-based program for preschool-aged children and their families, held on the wild shores of Twinbeach Sanctuary, Pulau Sibu.
Designed by our Program Director Hannah—a former early childhood educator in Australia and single mother, inspired by her unique parenting journey—it offers what many families crave: time to slow down, reconnect, and thrive. Forget worksheets and rigid routines. Little ones explore through curiosity—splashing in water, painting coconuts, walking shaded trails, discovering wildlife. Busy parents find space to reconnect with their children amid unspoiled, untouched nature, forging irreplaceable memories that city life can't offer. Every child is nurtured, regardless of learning style, sensory needs, or pace. Here, the outdoors is the classroom. The lesson? You belong.

— Mezwyn, Founder of Twinbeach Sanctuary

Son of our Program Director Hannah and grandson of our Founder Mezwyn, Kaleo has ADHD and is on the autism spectrum. Hannah—who has ADHD herself, undiagnosed until adulthood after years of bullying—felt heartbroken when Kaleo was rejected from multiple preschools. It left them both feeling isolated and unseen in a world that made no space for him.
Determined not to let Kaleo endure exclusion, they moved to Malaysia—and everything changed when he was brought to the island. Here, Kaleo wasn’t corrected—he was accepted. He wasn’t managed—he was understood. With sun on his skin, sand underfoot, and endless space to roam, Kaleo flourished.
We believe nature heals and Kaleo's story proves it. Kaleo’s profound transformation has become the heart of Twinbeach Sanctuary. It inspired programs like Sensory Shores and reveals the island's true power: turning exclusion into belonging for every child like Kaleo and their families. We hope to offer that same sense of safety, joy, and relief to those who may have felt excluded, misunderstood, or simply tired of trying to fit into systems that don’t fit their children.
For children, the island delivers what traditional settings often can't—space to regulate, freedom to explore, and safety to be fully themselves. At Twinbeach Sanctuary, we don’t stop at inclusion — we strive for empowerment. We are here to challenge stigma by showing the world that children are not defined by their differences — they are defined by their contributions.
We aim to shift the narrative:
From isolation to belonging.
From being managed to being celebrated.
From “special needs” to special strengths.
We invite all kinds of children and all kinds of families to step up as nature's guardians, problem-solvers, and environmental leaders. Here, every child’s way of experiencing the world is not just accepted — it is valued. Because when nature embraces them, they don’t just grow — they heal, they lead, and they show us what a better world can look like.
